Three things to action this week.

The Singapore-registered car needs a live VEP tag, RON97 fuel only, and you need to call-ahead on the two dinner reservations. Get these three done and the weekend runs itself.

1
VEP RFID tag must be installed and active
  • Enforcement happens at exit from Malaysia — officers can block until paid.
  • RM300 on-the-spot fine since 1 July 2025 if the tag is missing or unread.
  • Touch 'n Go eWallet must have funds (RM20 Road Charge auto-deducts per entry).
2
Fuel, tolls, and the Friday schedule
  • Use RON97 only (~RM5.10–5.35/L) — foreign cars are banned from RON95.
  • KSL JB → Melaka tolls ~RM22 each way via PLUS Southern Route.
  • Fuel budget RM120–150 for the full ~430 km round-trip.
  • Leave KSL 07:00 sharp to reach Melaka by ~11:30 for the locked Nyonya Cantik lunch.
  • Exit at Ayer Keroh for the heritage core.
3
Cash, eWallet, reservations
  • BOOKED: Silverscape Residence, Agoda #2002745676, 4BR, 8 pax, 1–3 May (Laura Ann Karl).
  • RESERVE: Restoran Tong Sheng Friday dinner — +606-286-7811 from 4pm, book two weeks ahead.

  • RM300–500 cash per person for hawkers, parking and trishaws.
  • Pre-book the Melaka River Cruise on Klook/KKday (~RM28 vs RM30 walk-in).
